World Hepatitis Day

The 28th of July is World Hepatitis Day.

Every year 1.45 million die from Hepatitis. 400 million people in the world are living with the crippling effects of Hepatitis B and C. These viruses are transmitted through contaminated water and food, as well as by contact with blood or bodily fluids, through unsafe injections or transfusions. Infection also occurs from a mother to a child, or through sexual contact.

World Hepatitis Day aims to raise awareness of Viral Hepatitis. "With better awareness and understanding of how we can prevent hepatitis we can eliminate this disease and save 4,000 lives a day".
